If you are neglecting your oral health due to fear of the dentist, you are not alone. Many people avoid the dentist due to extreme dental anxiety even when they are experiencing pain. We understand your fear and want all of our patients to get the dental care they deserve – which is why we offer sleep dentistry. You might be an ideal candidate for sleep dentistry if you have experienced any of the following:
Our office provides a variety of sleep dentistry procedures, including:
Remain awake but relaxed by swallowing a small pill about an hour before your procedure. You will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
This method of sleep dentistry allows for a more controlled and sustained level of sedation since the medication is delivered through a vein. You will most likely not remember your appointment and will remain relaxed throughout the procedure. You will be closely monitored for your health and safety and will require an escort to bring you to and from your visit. One of our doctors will determine if this method is right for you. Please inquire at our Waterford location.
Also known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is inhaled through a small mask that covers your nose. Within minutes you will be calm and relaxed for your procedure. You will return to a normal state shortly after the gas ceases to flow through your mask and will be able to drive yourself home.
You will always be sufficiently numbed when necessary to ensure your comfort throughout the entire treatment.
Our team of doctors at River Valley Periodontics & Implant Dentistry are pleased to provide our patients with sedation dentistry in Waterford, CT. We want all of our patients to enjoy their entire experience with our practice. To learn more about sleep dentistry and to schedule your appointment, call our office at your earliest convenience.

Dear Dr. Cantner –This is a belated thank you for providing such excellent service to my Dad. You took a bad situation and turned it around, which we are extremely grateful for.
